Recruiting News: Perry Ellis Stays In-State, Chooses Kansas
By Blake Lovell
Once John Calipari got his first commitment of 2012 from one of the top shooting guards in the country, he had to be thrilled at potentially adding a stud power forward in Perry Ellis as well.
But, Ellis had other ideas, as he officially chose Kansas as his college destination yesterday.
Ellis is a Rivals Top 25 recruit, and it sounds like most expected him to stay in state.
And you’ve gotta applaud the kid for not turning his announcement into some theatrical show. It’s a breath of fresh air considering how many times we’ve seen announcements like these turn into more of a made-for-television event, especially in recent years. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
Here’s some highlights showing what Ellis will be bringing to the table for Bill Self and the Jayhawks:
There’s nothing spectacular in there, as the video choices were limited, but Ellis seems like an all-business type of player on the floor. He’s got that quiet confidence to him, and admittedly, those are my favorite kind of players.
Congrats to Self and company for landing him. As for Kentucky fans, don’t worry. You’ve got plenty of more options out there.
