Conference Expansion: TCU Receives Invite From the Big 12
By Blake Lovell
And the pieces continue to fall in place in the are of conference expansion, as there is some breaking news today out of the Big 12.
According to CBSSports.com’s Brett McMurphy, TCU has received an invite from the Big 12 and is expected to join the conference.
Keep in mind that this is the same TCU that was scheduled to join the Big East next season.
As we’ve all learned during this whole conference expansion process though, loyalty means nothing. If you’re TCU, why join the Big East when you can join the Big 12?
It makes much more geographical sense and it’s a better football conference. Which again, is all that matters in this whole deal.
It’s football, football, football whether we like it or not.
This is certainly a tough blow for the Big East, as they’re still struggling to decide when and how to expand their conference. TCU would have been a fantastic edition football-wise, but not much of a factor basketball-wise. Whoops, forgot about that whole “football, football, football” thing.
Of course, now with TCU on the verge of joining the Big 12, once again all focus now turns to Missouri. And according to Jon Solomon of the Birmingham News, they do not have the votes needed to be accepted into the conference right now.
Well, I guess they could always consider that Big East slot just became available.
