Kenny Frease Reinstated at Xavier
By Blake Lovell
When Chris Mack decided to suspend center Kenny Frease a little over a week ago, it seemed like it was very possible that Frease could miss some game time early in the season.
Well, forget about that, as Frease is officially back on the team.
This is good news for a Xavier team that has a pretty challenging slate of games in their non-conference schedule. They play the likes of Vanderbilt, Purdue, Butler and Cincinnati in a span of a few weeks, so having your starting center is probably a necessity in those kind of games.
Not that I think Frease would have actually been held out that long, but I’m not sure anyone knew what to expect when Mack announced the suspension.
Frease will definitely have his opportunities this season, especially considering what the Musketeers have on the perimeter.
Teams will be focusing on keeping Tu Holloway out of the paint, which might allow Frease a chance to pick up scoring opportunities. There’s a very good chance Holloway will see some double teams, so having a post presence like Frease and the versatile Travis Taylor to dish it off to will be a huge plus for this team.
Hopefully there won’t be any more bumps in the road for Mack and Frease this year because this team really needs him to bring it in the frontcourt.
