Murphy Holloway Cleared to Play for Ole Miss This Season
By Blake Lovell
When writing our 2011-2012 SEC preview a few days ago, I picked the Ole Miss Rebels to finish seventh in the conference, which I thought might have been a little low.
But now, I seriously might have to reconsider that placement, as Andy Kennedy and company got some good news about a certain player who could make an impact this season.
Murphy Holloway has been cleared by the SEC to play for the Rebels this season, adding another solid player to a very underrated frontcourt.
Holloway was a double-double guy when he played for Ole Miss the last time, and now Kennedy can add him to the mix alongside players like Reginald Buckner, Terrance Henry, and newcomer Jelan Kendrick.
I mean seriously, when you think about a frontcourt trio of Buckner, Henry, and Holloway, that’s one that you’d probably put up against a lot of teams. That’s not a bad group of big men at all.
And that strength might just make them an NCAA Tournament team come March.
The Rebels might not make that jump into the top four with Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida, and Alabama, but there’s no reason why they couldn’t move ahead of teams like Mississippi State and Arkansas.
This is Kennedy’s year to finally lead this team to the Big Dance. They definitely have the talent in place to be in the tourney.
We’ll see if they put it all together and cause some havoc this season in the SEC.
