Wayne Blackshear Will Play for Louisville This Season After All
By Blake Lovell
Let’s rewind to a few days ago. Louisville freshman Wayne Blackshear suffered a torn labrum and was expected to miss the entire 2011-2012 season.
Fast forward to the present, and now Rick Pitino has said that Blackshear’s surgery was a successful one, and that he could be ready to go in 6-8 weeks.
That has to be welcoming news for Pitino and company, especially considering the other injury tidbits in that story.
Blackshear, Peyton Siva, Mike Marra, Rakeem Buckles, and Stephan Van Treese are all going to be impact players for the Cardinals this season, yet all of them are out with injuries right now.
Luckily, Louisville’s first test of the season doesn’t come until November 19 when they visit the defending two-time national runner-up Butler Bulldogs. So they’ve got some time to get all these guys healed up.
This really is a team that could have a huge year, which is why you would hate to see things get off track due to players getting injured.
Getting Blackshear back is huge for this team though and hopefully he’ll be ready to go by the time they hit Big East play in late December.
