Recruiting News: Mitch McGary Is Heading To Michigan

facebooktwitterreddit

Football is king at Michigan. And while that’s not going to change anytime soon, there is plenty of reason for excitement when it comes to the Michigan basketball program.

John Beilein has a strong team entering this season, one that could very well be the team that finishes second behind the prohibitive favorite, Ohio State.

But Michigan fans, there’s gonna be a whole lot more fireworks coming your way next year.

The second ranked player in ESPNU 100’s 2012 class, 6’10” center Mitch McGary, committed to his school of choice today. And that school was Michigan.

Words can’t do this justice. This is simply an amazing land by Beilein and his staff.

Most expected McGary to choose the Wolverines, but that’s really not the point here. The point is that he’s a player that fits right in with what Beilein likes. He score inside the paint, and also has the ability to go out a little farther and score away from the basket. And, well, you don’t get ranked as the top center in your class by being average.

He’s not flashy because he doesn’t have to be. But without question, he’s going to step in right away and be a big time player for this program.

Here’s a little highlight video showcasing some of his skills:

Again, huge get for Beilein and his staff. He keeps recruiting at this level, and Michigan is gonna win a whole of games. You can count on that.
