Louisville Loses Mike Marra For the Season to Torn ACL
By Blake Lovell
For Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals, the good news is that they’re off to a 2-0 start after blowout wins against UT-Martin and Lamar.
Now, the bad news (again), is that guard Mike Marra tore his ACL and will now miss the rest of the season.
That’s a huge blow for this team, considering that they’ve already lost Wayne Blackshear for an extended period of time, and Rakeem Buckles won’t be back for several weeks either.
Marra is a guy that was going to get some big minutes and be a part of some great depth in the backcourt for the Cardinals. But with Marra now out for the year and Blackshear’s timetable for a return still unknown, Peyton Siva and Chris Smith are looking at more minutes in that lineup.
So with that said, it’s going to be hard for Siva to get in foul trouble like he did in the game against Lamar, because he’s pretty much gonna be needed for at least 30 minutes a game from here on out.
Louisville entered the season with so much promise, but boy are they suffering some bad luck right now.
Luckily, aside from a trip to Butler on Saturday, their schedule isn’t too daunting. Their next big test won’t be until December 2 against Vanderbilt.
So at least Pitino has some time to adjust a few things and experiment with a new rotation.
