Reader Poll: Will Georgetown Make the NCAA Tournament?
By Blake Lovell
There were a lot of unknowns about the Georgetown Hoyas entering this week’s Maui Invitational, but after winning two games in three days, we certainly know a little more about them.
They wrapped up their Maui campaign early today with an upset of #8 Memphis, and were had their chances to knock off another Top 15 team in Kansas on Monday.
So with that, John Thompson III has his team sitting at a solid 4-1 on the season.
Now the question deals with just how good this team is. Most believed they were a middle of the pack team in the Big East heading into the season, and while they still might be, they looked like one of the Top 68 teams in the country this week.
Of course, three days in Maui isn’t three months in the brutal Big East, but Memphis and Kansas aren’t exactly slouches.
Although Memphis may be proving to be just a tad bit overrated, it’s still a good win for the Hoyas at this point, and it shows that they win find a way to win games in crunch time.
That brings us to today’s reader poll, which focuses around Georgetown’s NCAA tournament hopes.
As you see it right now, is this a team that will be able to win enough games in the Big East to punch a ticket to the Big Dance?
Again, it definitely looked like this is an emerging team that could shake things up a little bit in the conference. I’m not saying they’ll win it, however, they have the tools to at least make things interesting. And they’ve shown that they can beat top teams, which is good considering the Big East has a lot of top teams.
But it’s your turn. Will the Hoyas be dancing in March?
