Conference Expansion: Which New Big East School Will Win More?
By Blake Lovell
After a little down time with not a whole lot going on with conference expansion, the Big East made a bold move by finalizing a deal that would bring three new teams to the fold basketball-wise.
Houston, SMU, and Central Florida will all be joining the conference in 2013, and will be a part of a new era in Big East basketball.
With several of the current top programs in the conference (Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and West Virginia) all leaving for new homes in other conferences, the competition won’t be as stiff for these three than it would have been had these schools decided to stay.
But…..it’s certainly not gonna be a cakewalk.
The conference landscape will probably have changed even more by the time these schools join the Big East, so it’s hard to tell exactly what they’ll be going against.
Current schools in the conference could still decide to leave by 2013. So that’s an unknown.
But we do know that none of these three schools have experienced a ton of success in the last several seasons in inferior conferences.
So how will they fare in a conference that could present a much tougher challenge? We wanna get your thoughts on these additions.
Will Houston, SMU, or Central Florida be the one in this group that finds the most success in their new venture?
