Today’s Preview: Can West Virginia and Cincinnati Pull Off Road Upsets?
By Blake Lovell
If you’re a fan of the Atlantic Sun, MEAC, and SWAC, then this is your kind of night in college basketball. For everyone else, well, there’s a few games that will hold your attention but that’s about it.
Oh, and we hear there’s a pretty good football game scheduled to take place as well.
Here’s a look at today’s games of note:
Oklahoma (10-4, 0-2) at Oklahoma State (8-7, 1-1) – 7 PM ET, ESPNU
The Sooners were winless in their first two conferences games, but their opponents were Missouri and Kansas. Meanwhile, OK State looks to put a yucky 58-49 loss at Texas behind them. The Cowboys might be looking ahead to their matchup with Baylor on Saturday, which could make this one interesting.
Prediction: OK State 64, Oklahoma 58
West Virginia (12-4, 3-1) at #8 UConn (12-3, 2-2) – 7 PM ET, ESPN 2
This seems like it could be a letdown situation for West Virginia after the big win over Georgetown. Also keep in mind that the Huskies are coming off of a deflating loss at Rutgers. UConn bounces back with a win.
Prediction: UConn 71, West Virginia 63
Cincinnati (12-4, 2-1) at #9 Georgetown (13-2, 3-1) – 9 PM ET, ESPNU
Intriguing matchup between two teams that are off to good starts in the Big East. The Hoyas had their 11-game win streak snapped in Morgantown, but they’ve got a chance to start a nice little streak here given their next few games (St. Johns, Depaul, Rutgers, and Pitt).
Prediction: Georgetown 73, Cincinnati 62
Again, an abbreviated preview today, but the Big East matchups should be fun. What are your thoughts on tonight’s games?
