Steve Lavin Anxious to Return for St. John’s
By Blake Lovell
Although unsure when he will return to the sidelines for the St. John’s Red Storm, head coach Steve Lavin sounds like he’s making progress.
And given the battle that he’s been through since having prostate cancer surgery in October, that’s certainly great news.
When asked about where he was at right now in terms of how he felt, here’s what the coach had to say:
"It’s hard to measure — maybe close to where I was before I came back, the Lehigh game, prior to the setback. I’ve increased [my] energy and stamina. I went to Monday’s practice and was active and participated as much as I have in any practice since surgery."
It’s been a bit of struggle for St. John’s without their coach, but obviously it’s a bit different to not have your coach on the bench each game.
But the positive here is that Lavin’s health seems to be improving, and even if he’s not healed in time to return this season, he’ll be rested and ready to go for the 2012-2013 season.
