Liberty Beats Charleston Southern On Buzzer Beater (Video)

Everyone loves a good buzzer-beater, and well, chances are you might have missed the one that took place last night between Big South foes Liberty and Charleston Southern.

Down two with less than two seconds to go, the Flames had to somehow go the length of the floor and get a shot off before time expired.

They decided to make it easy and just hurl the ball into the frontcourt, and Antwan Burrus took over from there:

Now, the question I have is simple: How in the world was he able to catch that ball so easily?

Although we can’t see the action that’s taking place in the frontcourt until the ball is almost in Burrus’ hands, it looked as though there was a good 10 feet of space between Burrus and his defender as the ball was still in flight towards him.

Obviously you don’t want to get too close and foul on a three in that type of situation. And any way you slice it, it’s still a tough shot by Burrus. However, it still seems like there should have been a little more pressure there. Not sure if that was by design or if Burrus just happened to get some space after a screen.

David Minaya put up 20 for Liberty while Jesse Sanders added 19 (he’s pictured above since that’s literally one of two Liberty basketball pictures I could find).

With the win, Liberty moves to 10-16 on the year while the Buccaneers fall to 14-10.
