Saturday Predictions: #12 Michigan State at #3 Ohio State
By Blake Lovell
It’s a huge day in college basketball, with several great matchups featuring Top 25 teams. One of those matchups is Michigan State traveling to take on Ohio State in a battle for Big Ten supremacy.
We’ve already made our picks for three other games today. Now let’s get to this Big Ten battle:
#12 Michigan State at #3 Ohio State – 6 PM ET, ESPN
Jamal Murphy – The top two teams in the nation’s best conference match up in this one. It may not be pretty, OK, it definitely is not pretty, but Michigan State and Izzo just keep winning. They have struggled recently on the road, however, and Columbus is not the place for a team to go to remedy their road woes.
The Buckeyes have had a few hiccups on the road this season (three to be exact), but other than those, The Ohio State University has been lights out.
They come into this game having won six straight and look for the Buckeyes to make it seven, as they should be able to match the Spartans’ toughness and defensive intensity with a bit more talent to boot.
Prediction: Ohio State 69, Michigan State 60
Blake Lovell – There are some that believe Ohio State is still the best overall team in the country despite being ranked behind Kentucky and Syracuse in most polls.
They’ll get a chance to add another impressive win to their resume this evening against a stingy Michigan State squad looking to find a road win for the first time since January 3 at Wisconsin.
Even though the Spartans have the ability to pull the upset, it’s hard to go against the Buckeyes in this spot. They have hit their stride since dismantling Indiana a while back and that trend will continue today in Columbus, as Ohio State will control the game from start to finish and get a nice win.
Prediction: Ohio State 71, Michigan State 58
There are our picks. Now it’s your turn. Who wins tonight?
