Hampton’s Darrion Pellum Throws Himself An Alley-Oop (Video)
By Blake Lovell
This video has been making the rounds for several days now, and for good reason. It involves Hampton guard Darrion Pellum, who decides that a teammate isn’t needed to perform an alley-oop.
We’ve seen instances of this before (Tracy McGrady, anyone?), but for this to happen on a one-on-one fast break is pretty fantastic.
Take a look for yourself:
If you’re the defender in that situation, what exactly do you do? His options were rather limited there. It’s hard to stop something like that, especially on an all out fast break like that one.
With Pellum’s 6’6″ frame and tremendous athleticism, he could probably attempt that once a game and get away with it.
Pellum is averaging nearly 19 points per game this season and put up 33 points in this particular game against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Unfortunately, the Pirates sit at 9-17 on the season, so the nation probably won’t get to witness a Pellum self-alley opp during the NCAA tournament in March.
