NCAA Tournament 2012: Gonzaga Beats Up on West Virginia

facebooktwitterreddit

The #7 seed versus the #10 seed is usually a closely played game and often this is where many upsets in the NCAA tournament come from. Gonzaga made sure that wasn’t the case in their game as they easily handled West Virginia 77-54.

The Zags had a 19 point lead during the first half and finished the first with 18 up on the Mountaineers. West Virginia was unable to put together any sort of comeback and Gonzaga finished the game the same way they started it; with a big lead.

The Bulldogs of Gonzaga had a big day from their two freshman guards, Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell Jr. Pangos scored 13 points, had 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. While Bell was able to pick up 14 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.

West Virginia was unable to knock down much from behind the three point line only converting 3 of their 17 three point field goals. While Gonzaga attempted the same amount but made 9.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs will be facing the winner of Ohio State and Loyola Maryland, that game is being played  right now.
