NCAA Tournament 2012: Indiana Runs By New Mexico State

facebooktwitterreddit

The Indiana Hoosiers are known as the giant killers this year as they have had more big wins than any other basketball program. They have seen wins against Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State.

They earned the right to be the #4 seed in the South Region. Their first opponent was #13 New Mexico State and they handled them easily winning by a score of 79-66.

The Hoosiers have found their way back to prominence and many are even expecting them to make quite a run in this year’s tournament behind their star freshman Cody Zeller.

In this game it wasn’t Zeller who was the player of the game, that went to Indiana guard Jordan Hulls. He compiled 22 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. Zeller had 14 points, 6 steals, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The New Mexico State Aggies just didn’t have an answer to the Indiana attack and their 16 turnovers didn’t help them when they needed to make up points.

Coach Tom Crean and the Indiana Hoosiers will be facing last year’s cinderella story in #12 seed VCU in the round of 32. Crean will face go up against another impressive basketball mind in Coach Shaka Smart.
