NCAA Tournament 2012: Marquette Beats BYU Easily to Advance
BYU stole headlines a couple of nights ago with a thrilling comeback to bounce Iona in the First Four. This afternoon, it was a vastly different game of sorts, as the Marquette Golden Eagles jumped out to a big first half lead and added to it in the second half, preventing more magic from the Cardiac Cougars in an 88-68 victory.
Marquette got a solid outing from both Jae Crowder and Darius Johnson-Odom, who combined for 45 points on the afternoon. Head coach Buzz Williams wasn’t afraid to roll his starters all game long despite having a big lead, as both Crowder and DJO had more than 35 minutes each.
Up next for the No. 3 seeded Eagles is Murray State, who took out Colorado State earlier in the day. Marquette is joined by Louisville as Big East winners in the West region and will meet Murray State on Saturday with a chance to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
