NCAA Tournament 2012: New Mexico Stops Long Beach State

Long Beach State was a trendy Cinderella pick in this year’s NCAA tournament and for good reason.

LSBU faced a difficult road schedule earlier in the season and many thought that would prepare them for a deep run in the tournament.

But plenty of brackets could be busted after fifth-seeded New Mexico held off the 49ers, 75-68, in second round action in Portland.

The Lobos will now advance to take on the fourth-seeded Louisville Cardinals, who managed to hold off Davidson earlier in the day.

Drew Gordon scored 18 for New Mexico and Kendall Williams finished with 16.
