NCAA Tournament 2012: Top-Seed Kentucky Cruises
By Blake Lovell
As expected, the top overall seed in the 2012 NCAA tournament, the Kentucky Wildcats, had little trouble tonight Western Kentucky and advanced to the third round with a 81-66 victory.
Anthony Davis had a stellar game with 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks on the night.
The Hilltoppers did outscore Kentucky in the second half 40-36, but they never threatened the top-ranked team in this tournament.
Of course, the Wildcats must now turn their focus to a matchup with either Iowa State or the defending national champion Connecticut Huskies.
Most believe that the South Region is the toughest in this year’s dance, and both of these teams could put it together and knock off Kentucky in the next round.
But for now, Kentucky is still the favorite and it certainly will take a monumental effort to send them home.
