NCAA Tournament 2012: Vanderbilt Beats Harvard

facebooktwitterreddit

It looks as though the Vanderbilt Commodores have finally made it past their first round woes, as the SEC tournament champions were able to hold off Harvard, 79-70.

Despite having a 15-point lead with five minutes to go, Vandy made a few key mistakes that allowed the Crimson to get back into the game and make things interesting down the stretch.

But Vandy’s John Jenkins made clutch free throws late to allow the Dores to hang on and advance to meet Wisconsin on Saturday.

The fifth-seeded Badgers rolled Montana earlier in the day.

Jenkins finished with 27 for Vandy, while Laurent Rivard scored 20 for Harvard and knocked down six threes in the process.
