NCAA Tournament 2012: Ohio State Sends Loyola Back to Maryland
By Mark Knight
The Ohio State Buckeyes are determined to make a big run this year in the NCAA tournament. They were seeded #2 in the East, a region that many think is wide open.
The Buckeyes faced their first team in #15 Loyola Maryland but it was anything but a challenge. The Greyhounds took an early 5-1 lead but it was all Ohio State after that. The Buckeyes went on a 7-0 run to take the lead and stormed into halftime up 42-31. And that 11 points was approximately the difference between the teams the rest of the way.
The star of the game was Buckeye forward Deshaun Thomas. He scored 31 points, picked up 12 rebounds, and also picked up 2 blocks. He stole the show. Jared Sullinger also picked up a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the round of 32.
