NCAA Tournament 2012: St. Bonaventure Fall Short of Big Florida State Upset

#14 St. Bonaventure was close to busting a lot of brackets. They led the #3 Florida State Seminoles the majority of the game but FSU was able to climb back in it and take the lead.

It became a shoot out in the final minutes as each team was taking a turn to drain a big three point shot. And the Bonnies had the ball in the final seconds but was unable to get the ball to fall and they lost 66-63.

This game was a tale of two benches. The starters for Florida State came up with 21 of the 66 points while St. Bonaventure saw their starters only pick up 17 of their 63 points. However, each bench came through and picked up points. 46 for the Bonnies and 45 for the Seminoles.

Bernard James was the top performer for the Seminoles with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 1 steal. While the player for the Bonnies was Andrew Nicholson who had 20 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.

The Seminoles are in the crazy East region where many brackets differentiate for who comes out of it. Florida State is one of those teams many assume may come out of that region into the final four. They will need more from their starters in the next games for that to happen.

Their next big game is against Cincinnati in the round of 32.
