NCAA Tournament 2012: Louisville Turns Table On Michigan State
By Jamal Murphy
Louisville coach Rick Pitino upped his incredible NCAA tournament regional semi-final record to 10-0, after an impressive performance from his Cardinals, beating 1 seed Michigan State, 57-44.
Freshman Chane Behanan led all scorers with 15 points while adding 9 rebounds in a sloppy game dominated by defense. Louisville shot only 38%, but held Michigan State to 29% shooting and forced the Spartans into 15 turnovers.
Michigan State is the first 1 seed to lose in this year’s tournament. Louisville and Pitino were also able to exact some revenge on the Spartans for knocking them out of the 2009 NCAA tournament when it was the Cardinals who were the 1 seed.
Draymond Green paced the Spartans in his last collegiate game, tallying 13 points and 16 rebounds. Louisville will face Florida in the West regional final on Saturday.
