Conference Expansion: Charlotte On The Move?

There’s more conference expansion news to discuss today, as word broke last night that Atlantic-10 member UNC Charlotte had rejected a move to the Sun Belt.
In the story, ESPN’s Andy Katz also states that despite turning down that particular conference, Charlotte is interested in moving somewhere.
And it sounds like that somewhere is Conference USA.
Charlotte leaving the A-10 would not be a huge blow considering the nearly official addition of Butler to the conference, and Conference USA would likely make more sense to Charlotte in the grand scheme of things.
And as we all know, Conference USA is looking to expand further given the schools that it will be losing to the Big East.
The expansion could also include a merger with the Mountain West Conference, but there seem to be conflicting reports on whether that merger will actually take place any time soon.
