Top 2013 Recruit Jabari Parker Eyeing Spring Decision
The nation’s top high school prospect in the class of 2013 is likely to put off his college decision until the spring, Busting Brackets has learned.
Simeon Academy forward Jabari Parker, who was once working toward a fall decision, is now preparing to push back his announcement to the spring. Parker had been hoping to choose a school by the November early signing period.
The Chicago-area native recently added Connecticut to his list in light of the retirement of Jim Calhoun and subsequent promotion of Kevin Ollie to head coach. Parker plans to pare down that list, which now sits at 11 schools, by the end of October.
Parker welcomed Michigan State coach Tom Izzo and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on in-home visits Thursday and Friday, respectively. Though Parker insists he has no favorite, sources maintain that Michigan State and Duke are still the two leaders in this recruitment.
Ollie, Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins and North Carolina coach Roy Williams are scheduled to make visits sometime next week. Williams had to scrap his in-home visit initially scheduled for this past week to undergo kidney surgery. Williams successfully had a tumor removed from his kidney and was released from a local hospital on Friday.
BYU, DePaul, Florida and Kansas have already made in-home visits to Parker. Georgetown and Kentucky round out Parker’s list of potential landing spots, but neither school is expected to visit Parker’s home.
