Harrison Twins to Announce College Choice Thursday, October 4

Andrew and Aaron Harrison are nipping the suspense in the bud.

After initially planning to announce their college choice October 29—a week after their birthday—the twins have switched gears and will now pull the trigger on Thursday instead. The brothers, who will attend the same school together, are choosing between Maryland and Kentucky (technically SMU too). Their announcement will be aired live on ESPNU.

The Harrison twins are the top two guards in high school basketball and together comprise the most valuable recruiting tandem in decades. Andrew, a dynamic point guard with unmatched playmaking ability, is the No. 1 point guard in the class of 2013. Aaron, a shooting guard, is one of the top shooters in the class and the best 2-guard in high school overall.

The brothers have been aiming for a fall decision to preempt other top recruits from potentially snatching their scholarships. Since the two are a package deal, prospective schools must have two open scholarships for them next season.

In addition to the twins, Kentucky is also actively recruiting 5-star forwards Jabari Parker, Julius Randle and James Young, so UK having two available scholarships is not a given.  Andrew Wiggins, the nation’s top high school junior and a Kentucky target, is also weighing reclassifying into the 2013 class.

The Harrisons recently crossed off Baylor and Villanova from their previous list of five, leaving Kentucky, Maryland and SMU as their final three. SMU is regarded as an extreme long-shot in this recruitment.
