USF Bulls Recruiting: Chris Perry commits

facebooktwitterreddit

The USF Bulls have landed one of the top 150 recruits in the 2013 class in Bartow Senior High center Chris Perry, who chose USF over the Cincinnati Bearcats, UCF, and Tulsa. He was high on Cincinnati after a great official visit there earlier this month, so the fact that Stan Heath was able to snag the in-state recruit over a Big East school is huge for USF.

Mar 18, 2012; Nashville, TN, USA; South Florida Bulls head coach Stan Heath watches his team play against the Ohio Bobcats during the first half in the third round of the 2012 NCAA men

Perry is just a little over 6’8″ and weighs 245 pounds and is one of the top ten centers in the class and a top ten recruit in the state of Florida. He also received offers from Miami, Temple, Boston, Butler, VCU, Temple, Memphis, Dayton, Minnesota, and Rhode Island in his recruitment.

One of the best post players in the southeast, Perry has excellent strength and averaged a double-double this past season. His commitment comes after taking an official trip to USF over the weekend, and he gives the Bulls their fourth commitment in 2013. Fellow four-star big Josh Egbunu is the headliner in his class, but Perry deserves four stars for his upside and insane 7’3″ wingspan.

He needs to work on his defense, and he struggles against more finesse players on the inside. On offense, he commands the post and has decent range as a shooter in addition to his strength as a passer. He is a lower-line four-star recruit who is an excellent rebounder and a solid offensive player overall. He is a high-percentage shooter with his tough-not-to-love inside game and strength. Perry is a big addition for USF, and it will be interesting to see how the Bulls develop him going forward.
