San Diego State Basketball: D’Erryl Williams commits

2013 three-star point guard D’Erryl Williams has committed to the San Diego State Aztecs after visiting the school over the weekend, and it’s a solid addition for coach Steve Fisher. Williams is one of the top 250 recruits in the nation, a top 60 point guard prospect by most publications, and he is clearly one of the best 25 prospects in the state of California.

A natural leader, Williams is one of the best defensive guards out west and attacks the rim at a high rate. He still has a visit scheduled for Loyola next weekend and chose SDSU over major offers from USC and Marquette. Although he is a poor ball-handler, the 6’3″, 190 pound PG is an ideal starting point guard and is the perfect floor general.

The Sheldon High standout will join teammate Dakari Allen, who is one of the top 100 recruits in the class, in San Diego. Williams also received offers from San Diego, Fresno State, Long Beach State, San Francisco, San Jose State, and Loyola Marymount in his recruitment. His decision to pick the Aztecs was somewhat sudden, but it looks like he is going to be a great fit for them.

Overall, SDSU has two committed prospects in the 2013 class with both of them being teammates. They are really hoping to land top 20 recruit Isaac Hamilton, who is one of the best three shooting guards in the nation and is very high on the Aztecs.
