2013 three-star small forward Byron “Bo” Zeigler has committed to the USF Bulls over offers from Indiana, Iowa, Connecticut, Texas A&M, Iowa State, and Tennessee among others. He is a long winger at 6’6″, 185 pounds and is the seventh-ranked recruit in the state of Michigan according to 247Sports.

Zeigler has visited major Big Ten programs in Indiana and Michigan State in the past, and the Detroit recruit was expected to stay in the Midwest and play in the B1G. Instead, he will travel down south to become Stan Heath’s fifth commitment in the 2013 class. Just ten days ago, the Bulls received commits from Josh Heath and four-star center Chris Perry.

Indiana was at first believed to be the likely landing spot for Zeigler, and it was a little bit difficult for some to envision him choosing the Bulls over some of the offers he received. He shaved down his list to USF, Providence, and Iowa State and had official visits set to a handful of teams. He committed to USF on an official trip after attending Midnight Madness, and his recruitment was certainly an interesting one to follow.

The Detroit Community High standout is a very athletic SF who attacks the rim and is one of the best scorers in the region despite not having a consistent jumper. Zeigler is also a great defensive player, which is something that helped him rise across recruiting boards in the state of Michigan. Stan Heath and the Bulls are assembling a strong 2013 class, and Zeigler is yet another high-level defender being added into the mix.
