Victor Oladipo Shows Up Michigan with Last-Second Windmill (VIDEO)
As if the rematch between Indiana and Michigan slated for the Big Ten regular season finale needed more at stake, Victor Oladipo provided one last bit of bulletin board material. Expect to hear about this again before the March 10 encore at Crisler Arena.
After helping lead the Hoosiers to a win over the top-ranked Wolverines at Assembly Hall on Saturday — guarding four different positions and holding his assignments to four combined points on 45 possessions in so doing — Oladipo sent Michigan back to Ann Arbor with a lasting image of showmanship to mull. With the game clock winding down and the outcome all but academic, Oladipo raced down the length of the floor and threw down a windmill slam for good measure, perhaps atoning for the legendary flush he narrowly missed on this errant alley-oop.
Oladipo’s spur-of-the-moment showboating — it’s unlikely a classy player like him was intentionally trying to show up Michigan, especially knowing a second date with the Wolverines still lies ahead — can be seen in the video below beginning at the 0:55 mark. You can hear Oladipo’s postgame reaction to the dunk immediately after.
“I did the windmill at the end, I know I shouldn’t have done it,” Oladipo said. “I was trying to wait until the clock runs down, but it was all on adrenaline. I mean no disrespect to Michigan and I apologize for that, and I apologize to their teammates and their coaching staff.”
Sounds like a player having second thoughts and regrets already. We’ll see if the adrenaline-kicked exclamation point was worth the hassle in one month.
