Selection Sunday: 2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket, West Region
Selection Sunday and March Madness mean one thing: the official start of craziness in the NCAA Tournament. Kicking off the madness is Mark Few’s Gonzaga Bulldogs grabbing the first No. 1 seed in school history.
Gonzaga gets the fourth overall seed in the tournament, after Louisville, Kansas and Indiana took the top line in the Midwest, South and East, respectively.
The Zags, the latest team to earn a No. 1 ranking in the polls, finished the season with a 31-2 record and winners of the West Coast Conference both in the regular season and in the conference’s annual tournament. They’re led by 7-footer Kelly Olynyk, who has averaged 17.5 points on the season.
Gonzaga will kick off the tournament a mere 720 miles from their Spokane campus in Salt Lake City, and will get the opportunity to play at Staples Center in Los Angeles for the West Regional finals, which are scheduled to take place on March 28th and 30th. The Bulldogs kick off their run against Southern University.
Here’s how the West Region bracket sets up:
