Report: Michigan PG Trey Burke to Enter NBA Draft
Michigan point guard Trey Burke will forgo his junior year and enter the NBA Draft, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
Burke, the consensus national player of the year who guided the Wolverines to the national title game, will formally announce his decision in a news conference scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
The shifty 6-foot floor general had contemplated bolting after his freshman year, but returned to Ann Arbor in hopes of boosting his stock from a late first-rounder into a sure-fire lottery pick. Mission accomplished.
Burke, who averaged 18.6 points and 6.7 assists per game as a second-year starter, is a recurring presence in the Top 10 of all major mock drafts.
NBA draft decisions from fellow Michigan underclassmen Mitch McGary, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Glenn Robinson III are expected within the next week.
The deadline to enter the draft is April 28. Players who have declared for the draft without signing an agent may retain their NCAA eligibility if they withdraw by Tuesday (April 16).
