Northwestern Adds Second 2014 Recruit

facebooktwitterreddit

The Northwestern Wildcats have added their second 2014 recruit in 6″8 forward Gavin Skelly. While Skelly is not a highly ranked recruit, he gives the Wildcats a big man who can run the floor with great athleticism and will add some depth to their front court.

Skelly will provide some good offense as a face up forward and is able to hold his own down low. While he is not a particularly skilled player, Skelly plays hard and competes with anyone he is matched up against. On defense, he can defend both small and power forwards and puts in a consistent effort.

For a team like the Widcats that is desperately trying to get a taste of March Madness, Skelly is a great depth addition. They have come so close in the past only to miss out on the end of the year tournament by a few games. Having someone who can come in off the bench and give the team a boost can only be positive.

Joining Skelly at Northwestern so far in 2014 will be Vic Law, a top 100 recruit who should be an immediate impact player. New coach Chris Collins should have a few more coming in before the summer is over, giving renewed hope for Wildcats fans that in a few years, their team could be one to fear.
