The Arkansas Razorbacks are looking to build themselves a strong team in 2015. Having already gotten commitments from point guard Anton Beard and power forward Threy Thompson, Arkansas added another piece to the puzzle today with Nick Babb. It was confirmed by the young shooting guard through his twitter account today.

Ranked as a four star recruit by ESPN and a three star by Rivals, Babb is a quick and long shooting guard who makes his mark on defense. In his the passing lanes, his long arms allow him to disrupt the opposition’s passes and he has some very solid on ball defense already.

While he may not be a scorer like other shooting guards can traditionally be, Babb plays a two way game and doesn’t take anything off the table. He is a very solid and dependably player who coaches will love and teammates will rally around. At 6”4, he might see a bit of power forward in his future with the Razorbacks in small ball lineups and his versatility will give coach Mike Anderson a lot of flexibility in his lineups.

Here is a highlight video of Babb’s time with the Texas Selects:

The SEC has always been a tough football conference but it isn’t a weakling in basketball either. The Razorbacks last made the NCAA tournament in 2008 and have been fighting to get back to the dance ever since. With the additions they have made for the 2014-15, it could signal a shift to a more competitive Arkansas against the heavy swingers in the SEC like Kentucky and Florida.
