The 54th ranked player by ESPN in the 2014 class, Elbert Robinson, has committed to LSU. The news was first broken by Reggie Ranking through his twitter account. Robinson made his LSU his final choice over other finalists like Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Nebraska.

This is a huge commitment for the Tigers, both literally and figuratively. Robinson is a 6″11 big man who is extremely quick and poised for his size. While some big men play basketball because they are big, Robinson looks like a basketball player on the court. He runs the floor extremely well, has great hands and is already a seasoned player down in the low post.

Getting a player of Robinson’s caliber will make recruiting for 2014 and on easier for the Tigers who have been on and off in the past decade. The Tigers have a good history in getting the most out of their big men, going back to the Shaq days. They have also had Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Anthony Randolph, both of whom had great individual success with the Tigers.

The second that Robinson arrives on LSU campus, he will be expected to be a difference maker for the Tigers. There are very few big men that have both his length and skill level. Robinson should be able to make a huge impact in the NCAA from his first game of his freshman season.
