Whoever said transfers rarely work out must have never heard of Ovie Soko. The former UAB forward is having a better than average season. In fact, the senior has more than doubled his scoring output and is currently averaging an impressive 18.9 points per game. He is also helping his new team, the Duquesne Dukes, navigate the always underrated Atlantic-10.
Last night saw the Dukes entering their game against Fordham looking for their fifth straight win. What they were not looking for, though, was a video game like dunk from Soko. Which is what kind of happened.
No worries either, Duquesne basketball fans. The Dukes also won the game itself, 87-81.
Outside of that NBA Jams like slam, Soko finished the game with 29 points on just 10-15 shooting — and you can ask four out of five dentists, that is some effective and exciting bucket-making.
As for the Dukes, they are 8-5 on the season and their victory against Fordham was the first game of their in-conference schedule. So yeah, they are undefeated in the A-10 at the moment.
As the season progresses make sure you keep an eye out for Ovie Soko, though. Not only does he have the ability to rock the rim, make a ton of buckets and help his team win, but he has a neat name.
Which, you know, is probably the most important part of this whole shebang.
