The Wichita State Shockers are no newcomers to the realm of being players in the NCAA Tournament. The difference between last year’s tourney run and the start to this season’s is the fact that much more is expected out of them. In fact, many experts already have the Shockers slotted as being a favorite to make it to the Final Four.

Which brings us to an even bigger, historical question. Can Wichita State go undefeated?

Sure. Of course they can.

Wichita State just beat the toughest opponent they will face in their entire regular season schedule, Indiana State. The rest of the season is against teams they should beat and topple by a bit. The Shockers average nearly a 15 point win against in-conference opponents.

Even factoring in the conference tournament to end the year, Wichita State getting to the NCAA Tournament unscathed feels like a formality at this point.

After that it’s just a simple matter of running the NCAA Tournament table. You know, no big deal or anything.

No one has any Earthly idea if Wichita State will run the table, but it is a safe assumption that the possibility is more real than any reality show MTV airs at the moment . Really, we have officially reached that critical point after crazed speculation is just that, and the correct type of logistics falling into to place to even ask that kind of question.

Still, undefeated? Well, okay — I guess.

Just that every game the Shockers play from here on out — especially in-conference — will be the biggest game of that program’s year, and in some cases the history of their school.

No pressure, though.
