7) Mississippi State Beats Kentucky in 2007–Overtime and the Lane Violation
Mississippi State and Kentucky have provided some great matchups in the SEC Tournament–especially in recent seasons. All time in the tournament, Kentucky holds the edge with an 8-2 record against the Bulldogs, with Mississippi State providing some close victories along the way.
One such victory came in 2007, when Mississippi State, the one seed from the west division of the SEC, faced off against the east’s four seed: Kentucky. The teams were essentially even and the game unfolded in a similar way.
It was close all the way until the end and Kentucky had an opportunity to ice the game with a pair of free throws. Jodie Meeks made the first free throw, but the Wildcats were called for a lane violation just before the second one, giving MSU the ball. The rest was history.
