This is probably too low when compared to other sites’ lists, but we will try to justify that later. For now, let’s talk about how huge of underdogs Villanova was when they were playing Georgetown in 1985.
It would be like sitting at the bar with your friends and in walks in Kate Upton. You’re kinda tipsy, your friends joke that you should go hit on her. But you guys all know the deal. You have no shot. However, if you had some 1985 Nova juice (ew) in your bloods, you would actually walk away with her arm intertwined with hers.
The Hoyas were led by Patrick Ewing. This was pre Ewing being known as a guy who couldn’t (and wouldn’t) win a title. It was also before Nova became a really, really good program. They weren’t a horrible, below mid-major type of basketball team, but what they did in beating the Hoyas really helped propel them into the national spotlight.
The Wildcats were an eight-seed, in the last game of the year, against the then mighty Georgetown Hoyas. What did Nova end up doing? Going home with Kate Upton on their arms and giving the school their only National Title to date.
