The 1993 Tar Heels were loaded with talent with Eric Montross holding down the lane, do-everything George Lynch at forward, sharp-shooting Donald Williams on the wing, and cool as cucumber Derrick Phelps at the point.  They would go on to win the NCAA Title in New Orleans over the Fab Five in Chris Webber’s infamous “time-out” game.

But before that glory, they were brought down to earth in Charlotte at the ACC Tournament.  6th seeded Georgia Tech, led by James Forrest, Travis Best, and Drew Barry upset Duke in the First Round.  They lost in the regular season twice by double digits to the UNC Tar Heels.

Despite long odds, the Yellow Jackets managed to upset the #1-ranked Tar Heels and tie the record for the lowest seeded team to win the ACC Tournament.
