NCAA Tournament 2014 First Four: Albany advances to play Florida
By Joe Nardone
The Albany Great Danes had to battle a Will Miller and Mount St. Mary’s three-point onslaught, but they have made it past the First Four and are now headed to face the Florida Gators in the second-round of the NCAA Tournament.
DJ Evans led the Great Danes with 22 points and showcased some of the best moves this side of the Mississippi in the process.

Now that is some fancy footwork. It wasn’t the lone spectacular move by Evans, but it is the only one I have in the form of a gif.
The game itself was extremely entertaining. That’s despite the fact that Albany started the game on a 22-2 run and making many think the game was over before it really started. Thanks to The Mount’s ability to hit three after three, though, the game became competitive and helped start the madness that is the NCAA Tournament the way you would want it — sans having the beloved buzzer-beater ending.
Now that the 16 seeded Great Danes have to play Florida in the next round, it is likely all that’s all she wrote for their postseason. Unless a miracle happens, at least they always had their TruTV NCAA Tournament moment or something.
Peter Hooley added 20 for the Great Danes.
