March has officially gone mad. I mean whenever a 13 win team wins a game in the NCAA Tournament, that’s our diagnosis. So, um, Cal Poly might have (only) won in a game in the First Four, but what does that mean for the evolution of the human species? It means gosh slam bonkers, that’s what!
Let me backtrack for a second. Cal Poly was on the wrong side of many jokes leading up to their game last night. Folks were questioning the merits of a 13 win team being in the tournament just because they won their automatic bid via their conference tournament. All of which is fair, probably true and all sorts of honest.
Fast-forward to last night, however, and the free-world has officially lost its mind. Now folks are using Cal Poly’s win over another 16 seed as an example as to why they belong or something — likely something, but those people hate semantics.
Cal Poly now has to face an undefeated Wichita State team in the Round of 64. They might as well be facing members of the He-Man Woman Haters Club because they have as much a chance to win that game as they did at avoiding falling in love with a girl.
But hey, at least we learned that the human species is a fickle bunch. Hate Cal Poly one day, proclaim them the greatest thing ever the next.
Mad I tell ya. MAD!
