As sure as I am that Rick Pitino looks more and more like Al Pacino with each passing day, is as sure as I am that I like him more and more with every word that gets uttered from his mouth.

The newest tirade-ish like moment out of Pitino happens to be one that makes some sense. Well, at least from his perspective.

With Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals slated to face the Manhattan Jaspers in the Round of 64, the coach has voiced his frustrations over facing Steve Masiello, a guy he has known since Masiello was a wee-teeny kid.

(per ESPN)

"“I think the pairings sometimes lack common sense,” Pitino said. “I don’t think they would put somewhere down the road Duke-North Carolina so … the matchups don’t make sense to me. I’m OK with the seedings. I’m not OK with the matchups."

Comparing Louisville/Manhattan to Duke/UNC isn’t exactly Pitino’s wisest choice of comparisons, but his underlying point was with the familiarity between he and Masiello.

Rick Pitino was not done, though. He had to get in one last little barb.

"“But the selection committee is very fair, very honorable, very honest people, so I can’t protest too much because they’re doing the best job that they can do. Maybe they’re a bunch of soccer ADs, I don’t know.”"

Soccer ADs? All the “LOLs” in the world. I love Rick Pitino for no other fact that the older he gets, the less fudges he gives about political correctness.

And that is for a guy who clearly never really cared for it to begin with.
