Aaron Gordon is leaving the Arizona Wildcats to enter the 2014 NBA Draft. That is according to Marc Spears of Yahoo, of course.
The news itself isn’t terribly surprising. Gordon, who averaged 12.4 points and 8.0 rebounds as a freshman, is widely considered to be a sure-fire NBA lottery pick, if not a top-eight pick.
The interesting part about all of this, at least from a college hoops perspective, is if this sets off a chain of Arizona player departures.
No official word regarding Nick Johnson yet, but many assume he too is going to throw his hat in the NBA Draft circle. Other, also prominent, Wildcats are also possible early entries into the wonderful realm of getting paid to play hooks realm.
According to Spears, Aaron Gordon will make an official announcement at some point this week. Considering how crazy it has been as far as players refuting reporters’ sources lately, we reserve the right to wait until Gordon says he is turning pro himself before we make it officially official or something.
Likely something, but semantics are for cowards.
