Remember when the season was going on and Indiana Hoosiers boosters were talking about putting Tom Crean’s head on a stick? Well, Kenny Johnson does. I mean he might, because Kenny Johnson might be getting while the getting is still good. The former Indiana assistant is now headed to take the same position with the Louisville Cardinals.
Johnson is somewhat of a nomad as far as his coaching stops. He spent two years with Indiana and before that just one season with Towson.
It is also worth noting that Johnson is an always pretty hot commodity as far as other teams wanting his services. Many consider him to be a recruiting mastermind.
Johnson gets a large portion of the credit for landing Stanford Robinson and playing huge roles in luring in the likes of Noah Vonleh and Troy Williams. So, um, yeah. Kenny Johnson may be the proverbial all that and a bag of chips.
For Louisville, the hire is a really good one. Especially since they needed to replace Kevin Keatts, who recently took the UNC-Wilmington head coaching position.
According to a Scott Phillips post, Maryland was also interested in the services of Johnson.
