North Dakota State Bison basketball homeless
By Joe Nardone
The North Dakota State Bison basketball program is homeless. Not literally, because that would truly be tragic, but more in the sense that they won’t have true home games this year. They will just be kinda/sorta home games. Like, off-campus.
There are plants to build a new Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex, which puts North Dakota State in a bind. I mean, it is kind of hard to play in a building that does not yet exist. However, there is a plan put into place for them.
The school has announced that they have agreed to a two-year deal with Scheels Arena to play its home games there through the 2014-16 seasons.
Scheels Arena is off the North Dakota Campus, but it does have enough seats to sit 5,000 stark raving pumped Bison fans. So, that’s good.
The North Dakota State Bison are coming off their fist ever NCAA Tournament victory. It is a shame that they can’t have their upcoming season, and year-long celebration of their basketball team, somewhere on campus.
Although, in the long run it is obviously a good thing that North Dakota State is upgrading its facilities.
Three of the team’s top-four scorers are gone from the team. For what that is worth.
Yay, offseason college hoops.
