Xavier Musketeers, Chris Mack agree on next extension
By Joe Nardone
Remember when Xavier Musketeers coach Chris Mack was the apple of all other programs’ eyes? Yeah, so did Xavier. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the Musketeers have given Mack a new contract and a two-year contract extension.
Mack, who has led the program to the NCAA Tournament in four of his five seasons, will now be under contract with the school until the 2019-20 season.
In the official school release Mack said, “We have lofty goals for our basketball program. Xavier is a special place and the support from the entire Xavier Community is overwhelming. Xavier and the City of Cincinnati are home to me. As both an alum and the head coach, I am excited about the challenges ahead. Between our returning players and the new recruiting class, the coming years at Xavier will be special. We’re ready to get started right now.”
This is definitely a good thing for Xavier (and the Big East Conference). Chris Mack has not only led them to four NCAA Tournament births, but two Sweet 16 appearances. He also holds an overall record of 111-57 at Xavier.
Does this mean Chris Mack to wherever rumors will stop? Yes, at least for the right now.
