Manhattan coach Steve Masiello gets his degree, for real life
By Joe Nardone
There was a time not too long ago when Steve Masiello was a highly coveted college basketball coach. Then, because lying on your resume is not cooler than a cucumber, Masiello found himself in a state of limbo. Basically, Masiello was going to leave the Manhattan Jaspers for greener pastures, but he fibbed on his resume and Manhattan put him on unpaid leave until he rectified his situation.
In what would become on of the more interesting college basketball stories of the last few months, Masiello couldn’t get his new dream job, had to go back to Manhattan under a suspension/probation type of deal, and had to earn his degree.
Well, Steve Masiello has earned his degree. No, really, for real this time. So real, in fact, you could put a “z” at the end of real.
According to ESPN”s Jeff Goodman, Steve Masiello earned his degree from the University of Kentucky. According to the report, Masiello will receive his undergraduate degree in August.
Masiello is 60-39 in just three years with the Jaspers. However, between leading them to an NCAA Tournament appearance and being blessed by Rick Pitino as the next coming of great coaches, Masiello was (and will be again, soon) a rising star among college basketball coaches.
