Former Xavier player Justin Martin transfers to SMU

facebooktwitterreddit

Despite Larry Brown now being magically linked to an NBA job, it has not prevented the SMU Mustangs from landing top-recruits as well as some solid transfers. The latest example being former Xavier forward, Justin Martin, taking his talents to a place where Craig James may or may have not (he did) destroyed the lives of up to five professional streetwalkers.

This is a really solid get for an SMU team who was snubbed by the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee last season. Justin Martin was Xavier’s second leading scorer and rebounder last season at 11.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per outing.

Even better for the nomadic Brown is the fact that Martin will be immediately eligible to play basketball games.

It a weird twist of AAC fate, the previously snubbed Mustangs are the likely favorites to win the American this year. Not to mention the fact that they might be a preseason top-15 team.

Not too bad for a school who is best known as that college program featured in one of those fancy ESPN documentaries. Oh, yeah, and Craig James allegedly murdering some hookers. The keyword being, allegedly. But still.

The interesting side story is going to be Brown’s ability to keep up with his frantic recruiting pace as he continues to be linked to other jobs.

Welcome to SMU, Justin Martin. May no hookers stand in your way of greatness.
