It is worth noting, as Jared did the pick before, we can very well see a run of international players at this point in the draft. A lot of these teams are going to want to save cap-space, but at the same time view themselves as smart enough to evaluate prospects for the future. So, yeah, International Armageddon is highly probable around this spot, which could put a lot of presumed first-round selections in a predicament to enter the pros without guaranteed contracts. Sad face, I know.
I can definitely see Tyler Ennis being scooped up by Toronto, though. Ennis, who was projected as a lottery pick for most of the year, has dropped a bit. That is because most “experts” figured out that having ice water run through his blood doesn’t equate to him being able to score, which he can’t.
Ennis is a bit more of a project than people realize. Thin, bad jumper, is going to have a hard time getting to the rim at the next level, only an okay defender and nowhere near as having as high a basketball IQ as people once thought he had.
Clearly, Ennis needs to improve at nearly every aspect of his game, but does have that fancy potential all the kids rave about. I mean, the Raptors have to pick someone, right? — Joe
